City of Love & Lights

So, I’m FINALLY posting some pictures from Paris. I just had to have some time to scan them. I also have some pics from trips earlier this year but I think I’ll wait on those.

It was a great trip; just too short. But, hey, beggars can’t be choosers right? Well, I guess technically we weren’t beggars since we never asked to be brought to Paris. My Dad just offered. But I digress…

The flight there was actually worse than I thought it would be. I really did not get ANY sleep as I had planned due to the EXTREME discomfort in our coach seats. We tried to goad Dad into upgrading to First/Business class but he would have none of that! Seriously, I was so uncomfortable that I literally broke into tears at one point. Things improved though after I realized (much to my chagrin) contrary to what I thought, I actually had not gotten my seat reclined the full 3 degrees that the airlines allow. My seat was only reclined 2 degrees. Actually I think Dad had read that the seats will recline 30 degrees or so. It still isn’t anywhere near how far my car seats will recline. Which is why I’ve decided the next time we go to Paris, or anywhere in Europe for that matter, we’ll be driving! ;)

We arrived in time to see my sister for a short while before she had to run off to her test. Then we went back to our hotel room to check out our beds – for sleeping. You think after that flight we were up to using the bed for anything else? Seriously, take a look at this pic of sweet hubby demonstrating the size of the ancient elevator in our hotel (which, by the way, could only hold two people comfortably; three people uncomfortably; and 4 people packed in like sardines). Does he look like he wants anything but sleep? And he looked better than I at this point. Actually, come to think of it, this may have been taken AFTER our approx. 3 hour nap. I’m sure he’d be THRILLED to know I put this picture on my blog, so shhhhh… this will be our little secret. ;)

That same evening Mme. Martin (my sister's house mother/host) joined my sister in visiting us at our hotel and then proceeded to take us on an evening walking tour. Some of the places we visited on the tour were:
Notre Dame
The center of France (in front of Notre Dame)

Hotel de Ville (very, very fancy) & some frenchmen

La Tour Eiffel

We hopped on the metro to get to the scenic lookout for the Eiffel Tower. This is during the light display which apparently happens every hour on the hour for about 10 minutes. Its flashing and glittering looks kind of like a giant christmas tree. Kind of hard to see in this pic, but there it is. Oh, the little woman in the lower left corner is Mme. Inge Martin (pronounced like Inga).

Riding on the Metrooooooo (Sung like Berlin)

I had to get a picture of this - a french movie poster for SuperBad! This was one of the MANY advertisement posters in the Metro tunnels. Some of the best (and craziest) were for Orangina. Can't stand the drink but love their ads. I'll have to scan the postcard versions I found at a little pub by our hotel.

Jardin du Luxembourg

This is a fountain statue with a view of the Pantheon in the background.

View from our balcony

I have a lot more photos from Versailles and still in my camera so I'll save those for my next post. Until then... au revoir!

Hey Boob Ladies!

I know Lena already posted this pic on her blog but So What?! Right?

From left to right: Me, Becky, Lena, Jessica

Anyway, this was taken at Darla & Steve's wedding - or I should say Darla's wedding, because as hubby has said many times "It's all about the girl" when it comes to the wedding. She can do whatever she wants and the only thing she HAS to include the boy in is filling him in on where and when he needs to be somewhere.
Sounds good to me!

A good time was had by all. Especially Darla & Steve, who probably got plenty of action that night, unlike me whose hubby was working a 24 hr shift at the morgue. :(
Oh well, I'm sure we'll catch up in PARIS!! Whoo hoo!!! So, see everyone when we return.

And a HUGE thanks to Lena for taking care of our hairy bastards while we're gone.

Au revoir!

New Bike

OK, I think I found my next motocycle...
This thing is pretty cool. And I was originally going to settle with a measly flaming skull paint job! Silly Me!

21 September 2007

Guess what?! It’s time for more old pictures! This is when it starts getting more interesting. Well, to me anyway...

So, I believe we last left off at the age of 18.

Here’s a fun pic from when an old friend of mine called me Spumoni girl because of my tri-colored hair. You can’t really see it in the picture but the black was growing out and I dyed burgundy over it and then my darker blond started growing in. Thus, Spumoni girl. Also, I had to put this pic in with Becky and her HUGE glasses! (It was 1990)

Next is me at 19 with my friend Marcel. Back to bleaching, which was pretty cool because it glowed under the black lights at First Ave. Yes, GLOWED! This was from the fun old days of frequenting First Avenue, The Saloon and other dance clubs around town with my predominantly gay group of friends. I suppose roughly half were straight but unfortunately for me at the time, very few of the men.
Some other random pics from that time…
I seem to recall my friend Tina, who was holding the camera, telling me to look sexy. So of course being the joker I am, did this. I mean seriously, when someone tells you to "look sexy" how do you seriously act sexy? I probably grabbed my boob and yelled "you want it" in Judy Tenuta fashion right after this shot was taken.and riding the giant bunny at the mini golf course next to the State Fair grounds. Is that even still there??
Wow, I used to be skinny. Oh, to be young again...

A couple/few years later I got sick of the length and chopped off most of my hair again – and carried my baby kitty around in a bag while traveling back and forth to my ex’s place. Isn’t he cute!?
Got sick of the bleaching thing and went to a burgundy/red color again. The coordination with my pj’s for x-mas was a total coincidence.
Then I entered the corporate world and had to look normal – well, somewhat anyway. Oh well…
I am determined to once again bleach my hair out white and get the purple dread extensions I once had (when I had black hair) so that my hair will glow white and purple under the black lights at First Ave! I’ll probably do that around the same time as my next tattoos. Which won’t be until after babies since there’s nothing sexy about tattoos riddled with stretch marks. Yikes!

New Morgue Pet

Just thought this was funny...

Sweet hubby sent me an e-mail yesterday informing me that they have a new pet that's been hanging around outside their receiving doors. No, it's not a hungy wild dog. It's this cute little guy.
Isn't he cute?! He looks like a chubby little bat. This is the closest he could zoom in with his camera. If you look closely you can kind of see his little mouth. Well, at least on the picture he sent me you can. For some reason I can't get the picture to show up any bigger on this page. He looks like he's yelling to get that damned camera out of his face!

I want to pet him!!
